Got The Swine Flu11.11.09

Seriously. It started last Sunday and I thought I can will my body to become better by Monday since I can’t afford to be sick in the middle of a big project. The first night was torturous. I can’t sleep because of a bloody stuffy nose, severe headache, muscle pains, chills, and etc. Now, I am feeling a lot better with the help of Tamiflu, nasal spray and tons of paracetamol.

+ Dramatic news from the Hundred Acre Wood. Got this from an email sent by my mother-in-law.

Despite the road to recovery, I am stuck at home for like 8 days as the doctor ordered. I am bitching because as a gym rat, 8 days without going to the gym seems to be a persecution. I am afraid to lose the muscle I built and be fat again. On the bright side, I’ve heard that getting the swine flu makes one thinner and I thought it sounded promising.

Anyway, I’ll keep this short since I am still working on my project in the comforts of my sickbed with my Mac connected to a wi-fi. Thank God for technology!

That’s all.

P.S.
Everyone is invited to join!

  1. Sorry to hear – get well soon!

Again: Thanks for supporting the Oslo Blog Gathering – I already know you will meet some real good blog friends in August next year :-)

  2. Eric sier:

Take care of u. And don’t play superman, listen to ur body, and if he says “i’m off” go to bed…without the Mac. ok?
    Cheers.

I’ll be praying for your quick recovery. I can just imagine how awful it must be for you to not be able to go to the gym and workout. 8 days without exercise is a MAJOR BUMMER. Get well Charles, be a good patient :)

  4. m.e. sier:

Be good to yourself, Charles. Your fans are praying for you. (p.s. LOVE the cartoon from your MIL!)

P.S. Here’s a recipe I think you might like….you probably don’t want to leap up and start cooking just yet, but you can enjoy the photos

  6. Charles….

Your Blog would not let me comment…Hmmmmm. Maybe it has the swine flu too…! (lol)

I hope you feel better very very soon, my dear…..Lots Of Chicken Soup!
And….I was trying to say what a miracle technology is now that you can actually continue work on your project…!

BTW: The beginnings of all your sentences on your new blog design are cut off. I can read it fine here on this email, but when I go to your blog, the first few letters of each sentence is not there.

Sorry to hear about your illness, Charles. Everyone around here were paranoid of the flu. If someone sneeze, they assumed you’re positive already. Swine Flu is pandemic so best is to stay home and take plenty of rest (that is staying away from your Mac, too, haha). Being sick is very unpleasant and uncomfortable so I hope Ode won’t get it.

    Wishing you a full recovery.

  8. DianeCA sier:

Be good and do what the doctor suggests. Stay home all 8 days so you are completely well. You will do better in the gym and faster on your feet again if you let your body get the rest it needs!! God Bedring!

  9. Scott sier:

Ugh, hope you get to feeling better soon. Get lots of rest and don’t over-exert yourself!

  10. Evol Kween sier:

Eeeewww, I hate having a snotty nose and headache Get well soon!!!!!!!

  11. reyjr sier:

Seriously? Wow. That’s pretty scary dude.
    Don’t infect anyone else! wah!

But seriously, I think the scariest part about it is that it’s new and that cure for it is not yet widespread/ I mean your body may be able to handle it, but what of the others you stand to infect? It’s a huge responsibility to not infect anyone else.

I hope you get well soon Charles! :D

  12. Kyels sier:

I hope you will get well soon. I was a suspected case couple of months back because I was to report news from a school that was shut down due to the influenza and the next day I was horribly sick – but I was lucky because the doctor said it was only a normal influenza.

But anyway, get ample rest and am sure you can go back to gym soon!

    :D

Just checking in to see wassup. Commented in FB earlier. It sounds like you’re a bit better already and that’s soooo nice to hear!

    Take care.

  14. That sucks! Feel better soon, Charles!

I don’t think 8 days is enough for your body to fall apart. You’ll be fine. :)

  15. PERFECT, my dear….I can see EVERYTHING now, including a lovely border pver on the left side of the page….THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
    XXXXX–Keep Getting Better, dears……

  16. Oh no, swine flu! You have my sympathy, Charles. I hope you get better soon…better stay away from pigs in the future…lol!

  20. Joared sier:

Like this cartoon I found on Xtreme English which she credited to you. Hope you’re getting over the swine flu. My dtr and granddtr overcame it, but from all their accounts the process of getting to that point wasn’t pleasant. Take care!

  21. Sidney sier:

    That is bad !
    Get well soon !

  22. Shammy sier:

    Oink! Oink!
Love that cartoon, poor little Piglet! Cast adrift by his best friends. Oh well, it happens to the best of us at times.
There must be better ways at staying thin than getting the swine flu, I really hope you feel better soon. I’ve avoided any type of flu so far (knock on wood) but I know a number of people who have had it. Only young children and those over 65 are entitled to the anti-swine flu vaccinations here in Canada at the moment.

  23. Nikki-ann sier:

I hope you feel better already. I had some kind of swine flu type bug last month, I’d never felt so tired!

  24. Toe sier:

Hi Charles! I sure hope that you’re feeling better. It’s a good excuse to be lazy though. :) Love the cartoon!

  25. m.e. sier:

weren’t you baking bread the other day? what kind? how did it turn out?? i’m thinking of baking my own bread again and weaning myself off the delicious stuff at the farmers market. it’s almost as good as the bread in paris. i need to beg for their recipe on sunday when the farmers market is open again.

  26. Neil sier:

OMG!! IT’S BEEN A LOOOOOOOOONG TIME, CHAS!!!

How are you now? Are you feeling any better? God, it must be really awful to have that most ridiculed yet not potentially deadly disease. Lucky that it didn’t spread that much in our area.

Seriously, I’m so sorry if I haven’t dropped by on your blog for ages. Busy at work (OMG I’m working for a TV station just so you know.) My blojo just doesn’t come as much as often like before (and I still have the reindeer with me :D )

Hoping for your wellness from the Philippines!
