Summer Vacay13.07.09

I would like to thank everyone for their lovely greetings and best wishes! I am still in my blissful newlywed mood so my mind can’t process some stuff yet meaning I can’t write decently for my blog let alone concoct a new recipe. But no fret, I am just gonna do a recap of my whole summer vacation at Odd’s parents in Fredrikstad (9 hours by train or around 50 minutes by plane from Bergen) which was actually a week before my wedding. And yes, another visual diary!

Striking a pose on my first day in Fredrikstad.

My brother-in-law, Egil with his girlfriend, Marianne. Don’t they look adorable together?

Starting a grill for our dinner in the front lawn of Odd’s parent’s house (what a mouthful!).

On the porch with the rest of the food and the area where we’re going to eat.

Egil and Odd grilling some barbecue with their father sitting in the background.

The front view of their house. Lovely isn’t it?

The view from the porch is very nice especially during sunsets.

Took a tour in Oslo (an hour train ride from Fredrikstad) with Odd to meet our dear friend, Renny. Here we’re eating lunch at Lekteren in Aker Brygge. It was nice meeting him again and I am very grateful for the lovely wedding gift. Thanks Renny and Diane!

Odd and I attended a lovely wedding two days after our Oslo trip. The groom is Odd’s friend since highschool.

Another pose!

We ended our summer vacay taking my father-in-law’s new boat for a spin.

That’s all!

Such a nice get-a-way, a house by the lake (or a sea) and it looks very peaceful over there. The traveling is like going to the province from Manila. Was it your first time to go there?

The countryside looks amazing. I want to visit Norway/Northern Europe so much!

    • Oh it’s not the countryside dear it’s actually part of the suburb or city. Cities in Norway are very green so people usually don’t have an impression of urbanism. Despite the modern buildings, the forests or other natural ecosystems are usually preserved.

I absolutely love having summer BBQ suppers, and eating outside. Somehow the fresh air enhances the taste and the aroma, and food tastes so much better. Here in Canada, many people BBQ all year round, even in the winter, but I haven’t tried that yet. too cold to be standing outside for long.
That’s a really lovely house that Odd’s parents live in, so very Scandinavian! And what a great view.

Lil Brother, You look so happy. The people there seem so accepting of your life style. Here it is very different. A young man not far from me was beaten to death and shot because they thought he might be gay.
People who live in the North know how to enjoy the brief summer, don’t you think? Hugs ed

@ Fendi: You need not miss the Swedish summer. The summer season started well but gradually it got worse and we have had a lot of rain. It hasn’t stopped yet. Heaven is crying.
