...HERE!

The Face Behind The Blog09.08.07

Before anything else, I would like to thank everyone for their kind words or comments on my last entry. I am still here in Norway and fighting a good fight to be with a family that I never had. Those messages that I got from you guys gave me strength to be more optimistic and hope that things will be alright.

I got tagged by the dearest Miss Cheh with The Face Behind The Blog meme which was started by David Airey. Though my face litters around this blog I can’t help but to comply with this meme because I find it quite interesting. So here is my take to it and of course with a little twist here and there.

Face behind

I was born in Cebu City in the Philippines which is also known as the Queen City of the South and grew up there as well. English is my mother tongue since that is the first language I learned since birth. Then later I learned Cebuano and Tagalog when I started going to school. I grew up in a conservative environment but always had this liberal mind. That’s why I tend to despise some sick teachings the Catholic Church thrust upon the people there especially about homosexuality and birth control to name a few. In the process, I was branded as a black sheep amongst my peers.

Had my first gay experience while studying at the seminary as foretold in Losing Virginity. After those homoerotic episodes in the seminary I was transferred to another school where I had this “normal” life and tried hard to be a heterosexual to the point of hooking up with a girl. I went out of the closet when I was 18 while studying Computer Science in the university and working as a writer in a local newspaper’s lifestyle section. Actually I shifted different courses and tried my hands on Architecture and Civil Engineering then back again to Computer Science but on another school. In between those shiftings I also worked with the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation as a paramedic firefighter.

During my last semester as a Computer Science student, I got an invitation from a Norwegian IT firm (own by my now so-called Norwegian father Børre) to work as a trainee. I accepted it without batting an eyelash since it is also a nice way to get away from a place that holds bad memories. I was assigned to work with webdesigns since it is my turf. Then later I decided to continue my studies but with another course and Film and TV Production really caught my fancy.

Oddie
My dear Odd sleeping soundly.

Now, life seems so great and I felt more alive than before.

That’s all and I am tagging Marti, Windy, Nikki, Racquel and Captain Lifecruiser.

Anyway, I have been working a bit on my photography skills with the help of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom which is a really good tool for photographers out there. Talking about photography, I manage to stumble upon this site called Shutterstock that pays you for your photos per download. I suggest you guys should join Shutterstock especially for those into photography.

By the way here are some of my sample photos:

Butterfly

Glaciers

Bryggen

Lastly, I recommend these following blogs:Ditz-Revolution, Rootsap, TorAa Mirror and Tofubaby.

Take care all of you and kisses from moi!

We use avid here, I work for abs-cbn. I don’t know if you guys have tfc there but that’s under the network too.

I would love to to learn final cut pro since I’ve noticed a lot of production houses abroad use that instead. Avid can be a tad too expensive.

You’ve got a really colorful history, you rock for doing what you want without regrets. You’re open with your sexuality and damn proud of it too. :o oooh: I’m bisexual but I can’t talk about it in my blog cause I’m worried my family members or relative might stumble in and read about it. :s

Goodluck with your film studies and lovely, lovely photos :) worth downloading.

    • charles sier:

We dont have TFC here since the population of Filipinos here are not so big. Final Cut is similar to Avid but according to my teachers Avid is indeed better than Final Cut being that Avid is the pioneer and has a lot of functions. And big production houses does use Avid more due to the edge they have over Final Cut. Da Vinci Code and Hairspray to name a few was edited in Avid.

The big problem with Final Cut is that it is also limited to Mac

      • Rad sier:

Yeah, I know…that’s a big drawback for Final Cut. Our network is currently buying the new version of avid media composer and they are all windows based. I guess the hardware is cheaper than apple.

I know a lot of films that used Avid, even TV shows. So you’re studying film? wow, I hope I can do that one day. Television is a lot different from film, I’d love to experience the other side. But not editing, lol. I’m kinda getting bored with editing soaps here.

  2. Ed sier:

Dude, I love the last photo. And I didnt know you were originally from Cebu. And! Haha, we’re the same. I had to learn Filipino for school.

  9. Juice sier:

Oh man, the photos are great!!!

When I read the about you, I pretty much knew everything already, I mean I’ve read your blog from way before and I’m pretty familiar already :) hahaha feeling close.

  10. Valencia sier:

    Hi Sweetie,

I love your photos, especially the last one of the row houses. It has fantastic perspective. The only programs I have ever used is Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker and Quark, but I worked in print shops doing graphic design and desktop publishing. Nothing exciting. I did use Dreamweaver for an animation class in college.

I live vacariously through all my internet family and I follow your escapades from my boring little home in Texas. You are one of my favorites darling! Keep your chin up and I know good things will come to you.

    Take care,
    Crazy Cat Lady

  11. Talamasca sier:

Speaking of “homoerotic episodes in the seminary”, do you consider a priest to be gay or something if he throws this kind of comment, and I quote, “God, your eyebrows are interestingly beautiful!” See, reading this account of yours sorta triggered some memory in my noggin about this young-ish priest who told me that exact same thing when I was still in high school during a one-on-one recollection activity (“open confession,” as far as I can remember) with him. Thank heavens nothing sexual followed i.e. I wasn’t abused and stuff… although he told those words twice to me, right in the middle of my confession and right before I left. Freaky shit, huh? :o

Anyway, wonderful photos you took there. Your knack for photography is undeniable! Ok babai. ;)

  12. thess sier:

Darling, I love your pictures especially the first two!! Do you also have a flickr account? I’m into photography these days, still very much a novice and still have a lot to learn.
please do leave me your flickr name if you have any, I’d love to add you as a contact. I’m going to try shutterstock, thanks for the tip!

btw, may I ask you to add this link of mine as well? cos I’ve decided to separate my photoblog from personal…thank you so much!
    TC Chase!

  13. K sier:

Great job for joining the bandwagon. Wasn’t it fun?

I don’t like the last shot, I actually LOVED it. Take more shots of those kinds. The Old city, old faces, benches, mountains and ohh that wooden shoes maybe? Whoops that’s in Holland I believe.

  14. RennyBA sier:

  17. The Artist sier:

I loved hearing those details about yourself. It has filled in some of color surrounding you . What a lot you have put into your life already and how strong you have had to be just to be yourself. I can only imagine what you will achieve in your future with all your wonderful talents and the courage and strength you have already shown.

  18. TorAa sier:

Chase – first of all: Welcome as a A-team member of Mrs Lifecruisers Cybercruise. I will take this as a token for your wish to stay in Norway – you remember it took nearly half a year since your first “attempt” to be a crew member – even my recommodations at first hand was denied.
So I went straight over to Fårö this Summer to tell the captain how the landscape is. *giggles*.

Then – Thanks for sharing The Face behind. Very interesting and honest. Know you far better.
I have written mine as well – but this awful internet connections from our summerhouse – grrrr – photos takes soooooo long to upload. So – it still stays as a draft…

At last, but not least: I’m very grateful you have recommended my modest blog. I really am. Thank you so much with french hugs.

  19. jo sier:
